Communities in Akuapem municipalities receive assistance in tackling skin-neglected diseases. Water in Africa Through Everyday Responsiveness (WATER), a Non-Governmental organization, has presented WASH facilities to schools and communities as part of a project to eliminate Skin-Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) in the Akuapem North and South municipalities .

"Ms. Yvette Neh, a project technical officer for WATER, who presented the items in the various communities and schools, indicated that the gesture was to reinforce the handwashing practice and hygiene in schools as well as to ensure safe drinking water for the communities. ”
