
AKUAPEM NORTH MUNICIPAL OBSERVES 40TH FARMER’S DAY ANNIVERSARY
The Akwapim North Municipal Assembly observed this year’s Farmer’s Day celebration with an invitation to investors to explore the vast opportunities within the regions agricultural, tourism and agro- processing sectors. The Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Barimah Awuah Sarpong Asiedu – Larbi Esq who offered the invitation said with fertile lands and a climate ideal for farming, the municipality offers potential for investment in high - value crops like cocoa, citrus and vegetables as well as livestock rearing.
The MCE made the call at the 40th Farmers Day celebration held at the coronation park in Mampong. He added that the assembly through the department of agriculture distributed 22,000 oil palm seedlings to farmers free of charge in the municipality. The MCE further urged traditional authorities and land owners to make lands available for farming purposes. He also appreciated farmers for their dedication, perseverance, unwavering devotion and invaluable contributions which not only put food on the tables but also contribute immensely to the growth and development of Ghana’s economy. A 35-year-old man, Francis Bawa from Gbolu- Kofi, married with four children was the overall best farmer. He received a tricycle, farming implements and other valuable items.
“We welcome both local and international investors to partner with us in transforming Akwapim North into a hub of agricultural productivity and sustainable development,’ he said
